The purpose of the page is for our staff and students to be able to illustrate the amazing things that are happening at our school!

What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.

Professional Development and PLC Teams

Numerous opportunities for professional development are accessible at Alta Sierra. The staff at ASI consistently participates in grade-level curriculum rollouts, delving deeper into curriculum and assessments. The school has emphasized AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, exploring ways to empower students to take ownership of their learning. Professional Learning Community (PLC) teams, comprising classroom teachers and support staff, collaborate frequently to exchange data, explore intervention plans, and devise strategies to enhance student mastery of standards. These teams align with the school's focus through ongoing professional development, employing strategies to enhance the delivery of lessons and intervention meetings, thereby bolstering student achievement.

IDAC Focus Areas 2023-24

This year, we'd like to:
  1. Increase participation of underrepresented groups.
  2. Increase our focus group achievement level.
  3. Educate students about sexual harassment, gender equity, racial bullying, & digital citizenship.
Alta Sierra Intermediate has a shared commitment to creating a positive and thriving learning environment. Our collective expectation is clear: every student should strive to be respectful, be responsible, and be safe across campus.
These guiding principles are not mere words; they form the foundation of a community that values integrity, accountability, and well-being. To reinforce this commitment, you will find these rules prominently posted in all areas across campus. These serve as constant reminders to make good decisions that contribute to the overall well-being of our school community.
By embracing respect, responsibility, and safety, students play a crucial role in shaping the culture of Alta Sierra Intermediate. Students' actions not only reflect on themself but also contribute to the positive atmosphere we all aim to foster. Let's work together to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Focus Groups

The Alta Sierra Intermediate staff is committed to enhancing the academic success of every student. Teachers provide high-quality initial instruction based on grade-level standards and promptly identify students requiring extra assistance.

Multi-Cultural Education
There are so many things we do as educators to teach our students about the people and cultures that make up today’s society. We often find ourselves looking for resources beyond what is available in our core curriculum. With this in mind, CIA has added a new resource to our distance learning website. It is labeled multi-cultural education and begins with Hispanic Heritage. You will find lessons from our core curriculum, as well as additional resources that can be used in all subject areas and for all grade levels. It also includes posters from Teaching Tolerance that are downloadable.
