Principal's Message
Dear ASI Parents & Guardians,
Happy November!
As we move into this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership and support of Alta Sierra Intermediate. Our school thrives because of the collaboration between our dedicated staff, our incredible students, and our supportive families. Together, we’re building a community where students feel valued, inspired, and challenged to reach their full potential.
This month’s newsletter highlights some of the amazing things happening at ASI and provides important updates for the weeks ahead. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read through this with your student — it’s a great way to stay connected and informed about what’s happening on campus.
November Highlights include:
Celebrating Native American Heritage Month — We’re proud to recognize and honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American communities. Select students will attend the Native American Student Leadership Conference at Clark Intermediate on November 18th.
ASI Coat Drive — Help us spread warmth this season! Students may bring gently used coats or new jackets to their math classes through Friday, November 7th.
Career Week — Beginning November 3rd, students will participate in career exploration activities that will include our Career Day Speakers on Tuesday, November 4th, featuring local professionals sharing their stories and insights with our students.
Our 12-week grading period ends on Friday, November 7th, and progress reports will be available in Parent Connect starting Wednesday, November 19th. Please remember that this is a progress report, not a report card. While most teachers do not allow make-up work from the progress grading period, there is still plenty of time for students to improve before semester grades are finalized on Friday, December 19th.
To further support academic success, many teachers offer Lunch Labs, and we have Afterschool Labs Monday through Thursday from 3:20–5:20pm. Students who attend should bring assignments or materials to work on. Don’t forget that Tutor.com is also available 24/7 through CUSD — a wonderful resource for extra help whenever it’s needed.
As we move into the busy holiday season, please continue to monitor your student’s grades in Parent Connect, as well as their social media activity and phone use. Your engagement at home makes a tremendous difference and helps reinforce the positive habits and choices we emphasize at school.
Thank you again for being such an important part of the ASI family. We are grateful for your trust, encouragement, and partnership in helping our Bruins learn and grow every day.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful November!
With appreciation, Mrs. Carter Principal, Alta Sierra Intermediate

REASON #4: Social Development
The school setting provides dynamic experiences with building relationships. Students learn how to interact withe adults like teachers, librarians, campus staff and coaches; engage with classmates and the student body; and make friends with whom to talk and play. And as an added bonus, at school, teachers and school counselors are available with guidance if students need help navigating these interactions.

School Assessment and Review Team (SART) At Clovis Unified, parents and community members are active participants in decision-making processing and in evaluating the quality of programs serving their children. Apart from the traditional school site council and parent club, a body called the School Assessment and Review Team exists to provide a forum to learn about a school and to influence the leadership regarding the operation of the school. Each Clovis Unified school has a SART committee, which serves as a vehicle of communication and as an advisory body to the principal.

Our annual Coat Drive is wrapping up soon! Please send in any new or gently used coats, jackets, or sweatshirts by Friday, November 7th. All donations will go directly to families in our community who could use a little extra warmth this winter.
Thank you for helping us make a difference—your generosity truly helps keep our students and families cozy and cared for this season!

A Few Winter Reminders
As the weather cools down, please take a moment to review a few important dress code reminders to help keep our students warm, comfortable, and in compliance:
Pajama bottoms are not allowed.
Slippers (including UGG slippers) may not be worn. However, UGG boots and booties are allowed.
Distressed clothing is permitted, but holes must be patched from behind so that undergarments or bare skin are not visible.
-
Undergarments must be covered at all times—for all students.
Blankets are not allowed on campus.
We appreciate that most of our students follow the dress code daily—thank you for helping reinforce these expectations at home! With your continued support, we can focus our time and energy on learning, not discipline.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support!

Alta Athletics Dominates the Fall Season
The fall season at Alta Athletics is wrapping up, marked by both tough losses and exciting victories. Our athletes have shown incredible dedication and spirit.
Alta Athletics closed out an exceptional fall season this week as our girls cross country team captured the Bruins’ sixth CIAL Championship of the season.
The championship run began last Saturday when the 8th grade football team dominated Clark at home to cap off an undefeated season and claim Alta’s first title of the fall. On Monday, both the 7th grade girls and boys water polo teams wrapped up undefeated seasons of their own, each earning a CIAL Championship.
The winning continued on Tuesday, as the 8th grade girls volleyball team and girls tennis team traveled to Clark Intermediate, where both teams completed perfect 10–0 seasons and brought home two more championships for the Bruins.
In total, Alta Sierra claimed six of the twelve CIAL Championships this fall—an incredible achievement! In addition to those titles, the Bruins also earned second-place finishes in 7th grade football, girls golf, and 8th grade boys water polo.
All these outstanding performances propelled Alta to the top of the CIAL Supremacy Race, finishing the fall season with 68 points, ahead of Clark (54) and Granite Ridge (53).
Congratulations to all our student-athletes and coaches for their dedication, teamwork, and excellence. It’s always a great day to be a Bruin!
Winter Sports Tryouts begin Monday!

ASI celebrated Red Ribbon Week, October 27th- October 31st by dressing up and participating in lunchtime activities to support living a drug-free lifestyle.
Most importantly, students participated in "Life is a Puzzle, so is Intervention," drug prevention lessons in elective classes that included a video, group discussion and activity. Please follow up and discuss living an anti-drug lifestyle with your student at home.
