Dear ASI Parents, Guardians, and Students,

It’s hard to believe we are already beginning Week 6! Our campus continues to be full of energy as students settle into routines, build friendships, and dive deeper into their learning. We are so proud of the kindness, leadership, and Bruin pride we see across campus each day.

This week in Positivity Project, we are focusing on the character strength of Perspective—the ability to understand and appreciate different points of view and see the bigger picture. This is an important strength for our Bruins as they learn to navigate friendships, challenges, and the many perspectives of the people around them.

We also celebrated Constitution and Citizenship Day on Thursday, September 17, giving students an opportunity to reflect on the rights and responsibilities we share as citizens.

A special thank you to our ASI families for your incredible support of our first-semester whole-school fundraiser! Your generosity and enthusiasm make a tremendous difference and help us provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students. We are truly grateful for your partnership and support!

We are also proud of our students for doing such a great job with our cell phone-free expectations. Students are putting phones away after the first bell and staying disconnected during break and lunch. These times are great opportunities to connect with friends, participate in activities, and simply be present with one another.

As we wrap up our first progress reporting period, please remember to check Parent Connect weekly. Celebrate your student’s successes and talk together about areas where they may need additional support. Progress reports will be available approximately one week after grades close.

Thank you for being such an important part of the ASI community. Together, we are building a school where every Bruin feels connected, supported, and inspired to do their best!

We are so grateful for the incredible support our ASI families have shown during our Fall Fundraiser!

Last week, we were already at $54,000, and we are excited to see where we finish!

Tomorrow is the final day to turn in donations, so there is still time to help us reach our $75,000 school goal. Every donation and every family who has participated has made a difference for our students and our school.

On Friday, students came home with a personalized fundraising progress report. Please ask your student for their report and take a few minutes to review it together. This is a great opportunity to talk about their fundraising goal and encourage them as we head into our final day.

This fundraiser is about more than dollars raised—it is about our Bruin community coming together to support the programs, activities, and opportunities that make Alta Sierra Intermediate School such a special place for our students.

Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and continued support of ASI. We truly appreciate our families and everything you do for our students!

A huge thank you to our parents, community members, and staff who have already joined the ASI & BHS Foundation during our annual Membership Drive. Your generosity and partnership directly support programs, classroom grants, student opportunities, and special events that enrich the experience for all of our Bruins.

The Membership Drive closes on September 30th, so there’s still time to join if you haven’t yet. Every membership makes a difference, and together we are building a stronger foundation for our students’ success.

We’ve pushed back our first Club Day by one week to give us a little more time to organize and prepare. We want to make sure everything is in place for a smooth and enjoyable experience for our students!

Our first Club Day will now be Monday, September 28th.

Students will receive their club assignment notice this week, so please encourage them to watch for it and check which club they’ve been assigned to.

We’re excited to get our Club Days started and give students the opportunity to connect, explore new interests, and have some fun with their classmates! 💙🤍

Our first rally of the school year was this past Friday, and it was loads of fun! Our students brought incredible energy and school spirit, and we loved seeing so many students showing off their ASI spirit shirts!

A big thank-you to our students and staff for making our first rally such a fun way to celebrate being a Bruin. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Our Business Support team is shifting to the right! We have had several exciting promotions within our office staff, and we want to share these changes with our ASI families.

• Mrs. Alyssa Souza, our Principal’s Secretary, has been promoted to Assistant to the CN Area Superintendent, Dr. Joshua Shapiro, at the District Office. We are excited for Alyssa and grateful for all she has done for ASI!

• Mrs. Kelsey Anderson has been promoted from Cluster Office Secretary in the Polar Cluster Office to Principal’s Secretary. Both Alyssa and Kelsey are already serving in their new roles.

• Mrs. Blair Rodriguez, our Attendance Secretary, has been promoted to Cluster Office Secretary in the Polar Cluster Office. She will begin her new position next Monday.

• Mrs. Melissa Wilson, our Receptionist, has been promoted to Cluster Office Secretary at Buchanan High School. Her last day at ASI is tomorrow.

We will be completing interviews this week for both of our open front office positions, and we are hopeful our new team members will be able to begin next Monday. In the meantime, we have a few substitute secretaries helping to provide coverage in several offices while we complete the hiring process.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. Hiring and training new staff takes time and attention, and we want to make sure we find the right people to join our ASI team.
