Digital Citizenship

What is Digital Citizenship?

Alta Sierra students learn about Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship helps students learn how to use technology safely, responsibly, and respectfully. It teaches important skills like protecting personal information, thinking critically about what we see online, and communicating kindly on digital platforms. By practicing good digital citizenship, students build positive online habits that support learning, friendships, and a healthy digital community.

Your Digital Footprint

The digital world we live in is permanent, and with each post, you are creating a digital footprint. A digital footprint is the information that exists online about you and your activity.

How to Preserve Your Digital Footprint:

  1. Always think long-term before posting
  2. Keep personal information private
  3. Use privacy settings on social networking pages
  4. Protect your privacy AND the privacy of your friends
  5. Apply the Golden Rule when online
