What a Great First Day at ASI!

Dear Alta Sierra Parents and Guardians,

What a wonderful first day back at Alta Sierra! We could not have asked for a better start to the school year. Our students arrived ready to learn, reconnect with friends, and begin what we know is going to be an incredible year. We are so proud of the way our Bruins handled themselves today!

We were especially excited to see so many positive things throughout the day:

• Lunch went smoothly! All students made it through the lunch lines, and students did a great job navigating our lunch procedures.
• Phones were not a major issue. Very few students needed a reminder about our bell-to-bell phone expectations.
• Our campus stayed clean. Students did a wonderful job picking up after themselves and helping keep our campus looking great.
• The majority of our students were in dress code. Thank you for your support in helping your student come to school ready to meet our expectations.
• Most importantly, our students had a great day! We saw smiles, positive interactions, and students beginning to feel more comfortable in their new surroundings.

Honestly, it was one of the best first days we have had! Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping us start the year on such a positive note.

Building a Strong Foundation

Today was about much more than simply getting through the first day. Teachers intentionally planned activities to help students transition successfully to intermediate school and begin developing the habits and mindsets that will support them throughout the year.

PE classes began with school tours to help students become familiar with our campus and feel more comfortable finding their way around.

Math classes began lessons focused on developing a Growth Mindset—understanding that abilities can grow through effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes.

AB classes began working with the Positivity Project (P2) and discussing how positive habits and character strengths can help students build strong relationships and become their best selves.

Electives classes began lessons focused on building positive relationships and creating a classroom environment where students feel connected and supported.

Science classes began lessons on Digital Citizenship, helping students understand how to make responsible, respectful, and safe choices in the digital world.

These lessons and conversations will continue throughout the week as we help our students transition to intermediate school, learn our routines, and understand what it means to be an Alta Sierra Bruin.

Beginning tomorrow, members of the administration team will visit every AB class to personally welcome students and review our ASI expectations for a successful and wonderful school year. We want every student to understand not only what our expectations are, but why they matter and how they contribute to a positive school community.

A Few Important Reminders

Dress Code: Please continue to check your student’s clothing before they leave for school each morning. We appreciate your partnership in helping students arrive ready to learn and appropriately dressed for school. If a student is sent to their cluster office for a dress-code warning, a parent or guardian will be contacted. Our goal is always to address concerns respectfully and help students understand the expectations.

Arrival Time: Students should not be on campus before 8:00 a.m. unless they are enrolled in 0 Period PE. We do not have supervision available for students who arrive early, so please help us keep students safe by adhering to the arrival time.

Schedule Changes: Students who have requested a schedule change should continue following their current schedule until they are contacted by their counselor. Schedule changes are based on academic need and space availability, and submitting a request does not guarantee that a change can be made. We appreciate everyone’s patience as counselors work through requests.

Thank you for helping us make today such a tremendous beginning to the 2026–27 school year. We are incredibly excited about the year ahead and feel so fortunate to work with such wonderful students and families.

Today was a great reminder of what makes Alta Sierra such a special place. We are off to an amazing start, Bruins!
