Dear Parent/Guardian,

Each year, students participate in statewide assessments as part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). These assessments include English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, and help measure student progress in addition to classroom grades, assignments, and teacher observations.

At Alta Sierra, students will take the following assessments:

  • SBAC/CAA (Smarter Balanced Assessments): English Language Arts and Mathematics
  • CAST/CAA (California Science Test): Science assessment for applicable grade levels

All testing will be administered in person during the school day.

How You Can Support Your Child

You play an important role in helping your child feel confident and prepared. You can support them by:

  • Encouraging a calm, positive attitude toward testing
  • Reminding your child to try their best without stress or pressure
  • Reviewing practice and training tests at www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html

Results and Reporting

Student results will be shared at or before the beginning of the next school year. These results provide valuable information about student strengths and areas for growth, helping guide instruction and support both at school and at home.

Thank you for your testing support!
